Yeah I just tried calling Eyegirl, all I got was her voice mail. Hopefully she was nowhere near there. And we're supposed to be staying off the cell phones, I don't have a land line.

Another Minneapolis poster checking in.
Absolutely unbelievable. Still nothing on what would cause this. The construction work going on at the time was mainly resurfacing, no major repairs. It may turn out to be fortunate, that because of the repair work project, the highway had only one lane open.
Just saw an interview with a woman who was in a car on the bridge, a semi demolished her car, but she and her 3 month old baby got out without a scratch.

i recently contacted my local kh to get hold of a publication that i need (pay attention to daniel's prophecy).
i also asked in the letter to be provided with a watchtower cd (apparently it has all the old material on it).
however, they have not replied and i am left wondering if it is because i am a member of the general public (and they don't want me to see this material)?.
seatrout,
You apparently are not familiar with how the JWs operate. By writing to a congregation requesting a copy of the CD you have pretty much 'outed' yourself to them as someone they will be very leery of. They will definitely not send you a copy of the CD, and they certainly will not give you a copy of it if you show up on their doorstep. You will be very lucky to get even a copy of the "Daniel" book out of them.
Besides, there is not that much of interest in the Daniel book. Like all their more recent publications, the material is extremely dumbed down. Doctrinal points are simply stated dogmatically, with nothing really provided to even attempt to support them.
Anyways, there is mountains of evidence available to show just how messed up their chronology is. I get the impression from your post that you believe that most JWs are simply unaware of this, and that by clearly showing them the errors in JW doctrine, you will open their eyes. While your intentions are great, the truth is, anyone in 2007 who is still a JW, its not that they can't see, but they refuse to look.

that some of your skin feels like leather?
ugh...i got it a week ago when i forgot i was fair skinned and left without sunscreen!
there's a brown patch which doesn't feel like skin any longer and has little to no sensation.
I got burned really bad about a month ago. Huge blisters, peeling all over my legs and feet. And I was out in the sun for maybe an hour. I finally went into urgent care, they told me it was second-degree burns, but then they wouldn't do anything for me!

Good grief what a long-winded dude... sounds like someone very much in love with the sound of his own voice.
And with his head still firmly lodged up you-know-where...

i arrived back home yesterday afternoon.
the ride was really good.
traveling on the bike is great therapy.
Sounds like a good time! And a cool way to meet other JWD posters around the country.

so i was working with this dude, a carpenter.
he mentions that the dc is coming up next weekend and asks if i'm going to attend.
i tell him no, because i don't believe any of it and he's totally shocked.
good way to bring up your kids?????
(No Apologies pulls out his soapbox)
Its a terrible way to raise a kid! Let's see, you can't associate with school mates cause they're "worldly", you stand out like a sore thumb because of not celebrating holidays, birthdays, saluting the flag, etc. Yeah that's great.
Then as you move on to high school, lets see, no choir, no band, (too many religious-themed events) no going out for sports, really, no extra-curricular activities. Then try to explain to your counselors how you are not interested in college, nope, you are going to be a full-time minister for Jehover!!!
What gets me is that like probably a lot of us here, I was a second-gen JW, so my parents( who grew up as more-or-less normal Lutherans) had no idea how bad their crazy religion messed up our childhood. Of course they drilled it into us, how we were "different" and we should be proud of being a lil JW in front of our class. Yeah...
And then of course, just dreading the possibility of encountering a classmate while out in service!!!
Yeah raising a kid as a JW, its really great!

a friend of mr f heard a story on kfbk sacramento radio news a little after 8 this am...3 people in woodland ca received their settlement money, and 7,000 others have come forward with accusations.

Seeker,
This line is odd: "It is interesting that when alive Pat Garza alleged that when a District Overseer in Los Angeles, the Watchtower Society boss Ted Jaracz molested her and other kids in a Satanic, ritual manner,...
Just to clarify, Pat Garza alleged that, back when Jaracz was serving as a District Overseer in LA, he molested her and others...
I'm not saying that I believe or disbelieve her claims, I just wanted to make it clear what the original poster was trying to say.

i remember when i was in high school i went to the doctor about something completely unrelated to surgery or blood and as a matter of updating my medical records he made a point of listing me as a jw on it.
he never asked me if he could / should and i was in no position to object in front of my mother without explaining myself.
not to mention i would look wishy washy about my faith in front of the doctor.
Scully:
The fact remains that a child of high school age (actually it's 12 years old here) in my jurisdiction (and in most of the free world) can, if they so wish, go to a free clinic and get birth control or arrange for an abortion or get counselling on STDs or safe sexual practices.
12 years old? That's insane! And I don't think I alone in thinking that.
As to your hypothetical situations, they are just that, hypothetical. As all pro-abortionists do, you throw out the "what about rape victims?" straw man. Let's get real here. You're saying that when your 12 year old child is raped, the best outcome is for the child to keep the parents from finding out about the rape, go and get an abortion, all without the parents ever finding out. Yeah, that makes total sense. If I was the parent in this hypothetical situation, I would hope to God my child would come to me, so that I could do whatever I could to help her recover from this awful situation. If she was pregnant, again, I would want to be there for her, and depending on all the circumstances, it may be that abortion is the right choice. But why should a child have to make this kind of decision on their own???
As for your brother, I have to believe that if he wanted blood, the doctors would have found a way to give him blood. If they can get a court order to give blood to a teenager who doesn't want it, they certainly could do it for a teen who did.
Ultimately, it is not the place of a physician or a nurse to disclose confidential medical information to a parent that a minor child wishes to keep confidential. We can encourage a minor child to disclose to their parents, and we can be there to help them do it, but it's not my place, nor is it a doctor's place, to betray patient confidences.
By the way, who pays for the contraceptives and abortions for these kids? Let me guess, the parents get a bill with no explanation of what its for. What a great system.
